International Honorable Mention - CANstruction 2008

The hard work and team effort of the total staff, architects, designers, and administration alike culminated on November 13th into a phenomenal "Green Eggs and Spam" structure made out of cans. This year marked the 12th annual Hampton Roads canstruction competition to benefit the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia. Paul Finch & Associates, P.C. competed with 17 other teams representing top architectural firms, engineering firms, and universities to build 8 x 10 foot structures out of cans, to illustrate some element of the themes, hunger and/or Spamalot, a new musical based on the motion picture, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, which was in the area performing and contributed to the event as donors. "Greens Eggs and Spam" was locally honored with the Patricia Parker Award and received Honorable Mention at the international level for its ingenuity and structural integrity. This was the first time since 12 years of Hampton Roads' participation that a team from our area has ever won at the international level. Even better, the event resulted in a total of 85,000 pounds of food which was all donated to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia. We would like to extend our gratitude to those who contributed as sponsors to the PF&A team: St. Mathew’s School Chesapeake Regional Health Foundation NRW Engineering, P.C.
